A Sitecom range extender amplifies the Wi-Fi signal from your router (or modem router). If you set a security type in your router (or modem router) (preferably WPA2) before you connect your range extender to it, the range extender copies your router's (or modem router's) security settings. The network key (password) you enter to connect to the range extender is therefore the same as for your (modem) router.
